ASTHMA

It hadn’t been much of a problem in space… until now.

He’s on his last inhaler but it’s been running low for about a month. He thought he’d be okay relying on the dehumidifier Pidge rigged up for his room while he milked what was left of it, and he had been relatively fine with just that. It’d actually been weeks since he had an attack. But his lungs are acting up again and he’s officially out of medicine right when Shiro has an agility test planned.

He’s definitely not expecting to get wrapped up in the world of a blind Cuban and the grief he carries right next to hope.

Whatever It Takes by Saerus2665 – Rating: T – Word Count 43,892 – Summary: Lance wished he was strong enough to just let himself waste away in his cell, he wished he was strong enough yell and scream and shout obscenities and challenges in a true Keith fashion until the guards came bursting through the door and finally took him out.

But his mouth wouldn’t work and his heart beat too quick in his chest and he just. Couldn’t.

Or: Lance ends up trapped in the hands of the Galra after betraying team Voltron in order to save them. Fully realizing that he may very well die in here Lance is comforted by the fact that at least he was able to save his friends…That is, until one day an all too familiar Blade member gets tossed into his prison cell with a blindfold strapped to his face. Lance now has to focus on trying to save the life of the only person left to pilot the red lion. He’s determined to get Keith out alive, and there’s a fleeting chance that he might be able to do it, but that is only if Keith can learn to sit down and shut up, and only if the Galra don’t discover the reason their druids can’t access the bond between Lance and his former lion, only if Keith doesn’t find him out and try to kill him first.

To Tell the Truth by tomino Rating: General – Word Count: 2,923 Summary – Other than a few scuffs on his armor, Lance looks unharmed – but he just stares stupidly at the Red paladin’s outstretched hand instead of trying to rise. Keith leans closer.

“The fight’s still on, you coming?”

Lance looks up suddenly. “Dude you… you have really beautiful eyes, did you know that? I feel like nobody has told you that.”

Uhhhhhhh.

Lance is hit with a truth serum, and his unintended honesty hour will continue until Voltron finds the cure planet-side. Keith, meanwhile, can’t shake off the part where Lance is… flirting? With him??

Sure, maybe he flinched at the tiniest noise or movement, and maybe he was too much of a people pleaser. Sleep Well, My Son by IcyPanther, Rating: G, Word Count: 2,707, Summary: A tiny accident becomes literal when Lance is turned into a child with no recollection from his older self. Coran has hopes the effects will be relatively short-term, but in the meantime he has a scared child that needs both reassurance and care. And while Coran might not have had the chance to be a father… he feels like one now.

Blast Zone by bubblebucky – In the middle of a mission, a bomb going off leaves Lance unable to hear. Still, while he’s deaf, the rest of his team are the ones that won’t listen. ⭐️

I Can’t Hear You by: Far_Beyond_The_Universe – T+ – Word Count: 14,272 – Summary: The other paladins (and Coran) are so frustrated with Keith and Lance’s endless fighting that they take some drastic measures and put into place a device that prevents them from being able to hear each other. Without each other’s voices both become incredibly lonely and start seeking one another out even if it’s just silent company.

Moth and Flame by wittyy_name – Rating: M – Word Count: 33,335 – Summary: Keith has been coming back to Altea Tattoos for months now, and it has little to do with the fact that his best friend is the piercer and more to do with the beautiful tattoo artist with talented hands and a smile that makes him weak at the knees.

Of Friends and Rivals (And Lovers) by: vrepit_nah Word Count: 6,132 Rating: T+ Summary: Lance McClain has a big family, and that means no one is really ever alone in a room at any point of time. It becomes unnatural for him to feel when he’s in space in a huge castle with barely any people.

So, he tries to fill the hole in his heart by seeking out his teammates.

It strikes Keith odd one day when Lance begins hanging out with him instead of his other friends, and worst of all, it seems like Lance is caving in on himself without anyone noticing.

But lately whenever Lance opens his mouth all he seems to do is upset people, annoy people and now… now he’s hurt them too. So there’s only one solution. He just won’t ever talk again.

Deep Blue Depths by: suhcelia – Word Count: 11,408 – Rsting: T+ – Summary: After Red gets damaged in a battle with the Galra, Keith crash lands on -or rather in- an ice encrusted water planet. With Red sinking fast, Keith is able to make it to the surface, but the freezing water pulls him back under. He’s saved from the water by a certain blue paladin, but the effects of being in that freezing alien water take its toll on Keith. Lance must help his friend while also trying to locate the Red lion, for Keith’s sake and Voltron’s.

Finding Home by: knifeboye – Word Count: 26,966 – Rating: Mature – Summary: After the wormhole collapses, Keith finds himself stranded on a strange planet. Alone. Until Lance comes along.
With their lions dead and resources limited, Keith and Lance need to put aside their differences and work together to get home.

Antidote by ardenrabbit – Based very loosely off of @eyugho’s lovebug AU, which I love more than anything?? Thanks to them for starting this wonderful AU! Keith’s bitten by a lovebug, but this one doesn’t make him all cuddly. Instead, every moment he spends away from Lance is physically painful for him. That’s frustrating enough already without Keith having to hide his massive crush. Lance just wants to help, but he knows that Keith doesn’t like to be touched. Also hiding a massive crush, because these two are horrible at communication. This is a story about letting people in, and learning to let yourself be loved. Keith needs a lot of that. ⭐

Love Bite(s) by ArchetypeOfAdespota – In which Keith gets bitten by a Love Bug, and Lance is less okay with this than anyone honestly expected. ⭐

moderation by Katranga, Rating: T, Word Count: 21,613 – Keith gets bits by a love bug and falls for Lance. Allura gets bit and falls for Hunk. The only problem is that Keith already has a real, overwhelming crush on Lance, so he decides to only do what Allura does so he doesn’t give himself away. A plan that rapidly falls apart. ⭐️

The druids claim drowning is quite the painful way to go.” He tips Lance backward over the water, as Keith and Shiro struggle against their bonds. “If you surface, they die.”

Lance’s eyes widen and he’s pushed backward with a splash.

Keith, Shiro, and Lance are taken captive during a mission planet-side. The commander decides he only needs two paladins for interrogation, and decides to have a little fun while they wait for extraction. Lance is thrown into the deep with the threat that if he swims up for air, one of the other two will be shot. Obviously Lance would rather die than allow that. Later chapters will, of course, deal with Keith and Shiro losing their damn minds thinking Lance just drowned himself for them. ⭐️

Guilt, Silence and Causation by: taylor_tut – Lance, Keith, and Shiro crash on a planet and it’s kinda Lance’s fault. Shiro has a broken ankle, and even though Lance has a concussion and some burns from getting out of his lion into the flaming brush, he feels so guilty about the crash and hurting Shiro that he doesn’t tell the others. So while he and Keith are carrying Shiro, he just kind of out of nowhere starts to get sick and loopy and nonsensical and then just drops.

His thoughts are scrambled, his chest is hollow. He talks to her, and she lets him, but she knows that it’s a countdown until something goes horribly, horribly wrong. She can do nothing but watch.

The Storm in His Eyes, the Stars on His Cheeks by knifeboye – “I’m scared,” Lance revealed, and his voice was so small Keith almost missed it.

He felt something tug in his chest, and his fingers froze in Lance’s hair.

“Me, too.” Lance laughed at that, and his chest shook with the action. Keith watched as tears fell from his squinted eyes, rolling down his cheeks like shooting stars. “Good.”

OR: there’s a cave in, and Lance is self-sacrificing. hurt/comfort ensues.

What a Healing Pod Can’t Repair by Remember__Me – The compromised wormhole was ripping apart at the seams, sending everyone spiraling away in completely different directions. Lance could feel himself being pulled and bent in ways he was definitely not supposed to be. Stitching the team back together after everyone is separated is difficult, and for one Paladin rescue wouldn’t be coming for a very long time.

Boy Who Cried Headache by: Kdragon1209 – Rating: G – Word Count: 3,539 – Summary:

“You doing okay Lance?” Shiro asked. Lance looked up to see Shiro standing over him with a concerned look on his face.
“Yeah, I’ve just got a bit of a headache, that’s all,” Lance admitted.
“Well, if you want you can sit out the next round,” Shiro offered.
Lance was about to announce he was fine and shoot to his feet to prove it, but he had overheard what Allura was planning to do to them today and well… “Yeah, that might be a good idea,” Lance said.

Or, Lance uses the headache excuse one too many times and it comes back to bite him.

(Don’t) Stay by IcyPanther, Rating: G, Word Count: 2,439, Summary: Keith finds Lance suffering a bout of food poisoning. Lance doesn’t want him there and Keith knows he should just go to the banquet as planned, but… but he can’t just leave when Lance is this sick and all alone in a foreign palace. So no matter what Lance says… he’s staying.

He surveyed the room quickly to ensure everyone’s attention was on Allura before releasing a few muffled coughs into the sleeve of his sweater. He kept his mouth closed to try to contain the sound, but it didn’t seem to work, as everyone’s attention flickered to Lance as soon as he began to cough. …When Lance finally opened his teary eyes from the muffled fit, he met Shiro’s concerned gaze. Lance flashed a small smile to Allura when he realized that she’d stopped talking at some point during his fit. “Sorry,” he rasped painfully, so softly that it was almost a whisper, “Continue.”

“Lance, that sounds really bad,” Shiro noted. When Lance looked to the other paladins, expecting to see a semicircle of irritated faces, he was surprised to find that everyone–even Keith–looked more worried than angry. But his fevered brain didn’t get the message. “M’sorry,” he slurred, “Trying to be quiet.”

Reach out for you by: (break these walls) Paladin-Pile (UserFromPluto) – Word Count: 9,139, Rating: T+ – Summary: Keith is trying to make himself smaller, to bury his head deeper in his knees, and Lance’s heart freezes in his chest. Anger dissipating like an exploded firework, Lance lets his hand fall limply to his side, mind blurring with static. When he tries to speak, nothing comes out but a choked noise, so he tries again.

“Keith,” he breathes. “Keith I’m not going to hurt you.”

(Keith has an abusive past, but with time and care Lance helps him become accustomed to positive touch.)

It seems that for Galra however, the effect is less dangerous; the Galra-equivalent of truth serum. It’s all fun and games…until it’s not.

The Gift by: greenteafiend– Rating: M – 22,167 – Excerpt: Lance was officially weirded out. By Keith. Keith was acting very weird.

But it was a subtle sort of weird that no one else seemed to have noticed, the type of weird that would make the others think that he was weird for noticing it in the first place.

Keith didn’t rise to any of his jabs. Keith didn’t poke fun at him. Keith followed Shiro’s orders to the letter and didn’t pull any dangerous stunts. Keith barely even talked.

Lance was going to get to the bottom of it.
